The Miami Heat are optimistic about the potential return of Tyler Herro, according to the latest injury update.

The Miami Heat have not provided a specific timeline for Tyler Herro’s return, but a recent report indicates that he might be back on the court within the week.

Tyler Herro is set to sit out his 16th consecutive game due to a sprained right ankle as the Miami Heat takes on the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night. While the Heat has not provided a specific timeline for Herro’s return, a report from the Miami Herald on Tuesday, citing an anonymous league source, suggests optimism that Herro could make his comeback within the next week.

Tyler Herro has been observed engaging in shooting activities after practices without any apparent brace or wrap on the right ankle he injured in a game on November 9 in Memphis. Prior to his injury, Herro was posting career-high averages in points (25.3), rebounds (5.6), and assists (5.0) in seven games.

Following the matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, the Miami Heat is set to host the Chicago Bulls on Thursday and Saturday before concluding a four-game homestand against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. Herro’s return would provide a significant boost to the Miami offense, especially in clutch situations, where he has excelled over the past three seasons. The Heat currently ranks 13th in offensive rating but has struggled in the fourth quarter, being outscored by 2.8 points per game this season.

Other injury news

Bam Adebayo will be absent for the fifth consecutive game due to a left hip contusion on Wednesday night against the Hornets. Despite accompanying the team for Monday’s game in Charlotte, Adebayo has not played since leaving the first half of Miami’s November 30 game against the Indiana Pacers with a persistent hip injury. The Heat has not provided a specific timetable for his return.

Haywood Highsmith will be sidelined for his fourth consecutive game due to a lower back contusion.

Additionally, Josh Richardson is listed as questionable due to a non-COVID-related illness.
