Jaylen Brown of the Celtics supporting his own ……
Jaylen Brown wanted to talk about something different, but the inquiry was about his thunderous highlight dunks.
Despite Brown’s three impressive jams during the Celtics’ Friday night victory over the Magic (including a one-handed poster slam over, the C’s star was more interested in a subject that wasn’t receiving as much attention.
Brown added, “I also had a couple of steals and couple of blocks.” It’s cool, but I’m going to have to manage my own campaign for first team all-defense. I’m pretty focused on both sides of the ball, but I’m really comfortable and feel like I’m performing well when I make plays near the rim and steal the ball from opponents.
“I am carrying out my duties and staying more on the defensive, regardless of whether people choose to acknowledge it or not.”
Brown made a point of bringing up his defense for the second night in a row. He praised his own defensive prowess and answered a question regarding the Celtics’ team’s adaptability after Thursday’s victory over the Cavaliers.
Brown remarked, “I think I’m playing some of my best defense of my career.” “I feel like I’ve been living up to my commitment to be on the first team, which I made before the season started. I believe the key to our downfall in the future will be our continued pursuit of being the finest versions of ourselves on that side of the ball.
Brown had an excellent defensive possession on Sunday that might have gone unnoticed in the first quarter. He made a strong comeback on the Magic’s second opportunity to stop Black from potentially making a 3-pointer. Brown was alert enough to assist a moment later when Caleb Houstan drove into the paint after beating his man, deflecting a pass that was meant for Goga Bitadze. After biting off a shot attempt that Derrick White blocked, the ball rebounded again and found Bitazde beneath the rim. However, Brown was there to smother White and finish the job, gathering the ball and finding Jrue Holiday for a touchdown pass down the floor for a layup. Brown’s defense set up that highlight play, and without it, it would not have occurred.
Brown stated, “I think we have to set the tone on defense, first and foremost.” “We have to keep laying it as the framework and the basis for success, and I believe we have the chance and the capacity to be extremely successful in that regard. I believe that every one of our men aspires to be an all-defense kind of person, and I want to be the snake’s head.
