The close collaboration between Red Bull and AlphaTauri teams sparked concerns from rivals at the end of the 2023 Formula 1 season. The FIA, overseeing the adherence to rules on parts and intellectual property sharing, confirmed compliance after an aggressive series of upgrades propelled AlphaTauri from last to eighth in the points.
AlphaTauri began using the Red Bull wind tunnel in 2022. Recently, Aston Martin, after using Mercedes’ facility, completed its own wind tunnel. Aston Martin’s performance director, Tom McCullough, emphasized the strict measures, including separate access doors, to maintain confidentiality in the collaborative relationships and mentioned the FIA’s role in overseeing compliance.
