Verstappen shares his ideal location for an F1 race schedule.
Max Verstappen appreciates traditional, permanent Formula 1 tracks, and the three-time World Champion has identified a circuit that he believes should be added to the calendar.
Max Verstappen has expressed his desire to see Mugello, a track in Italy owned by Ferrari, included in the Formula 1 schedule. Despite primarily being used for MotoGP racing, F1 visited the Mugello Circuit in 2020 during the Covid-19-affected season.
Verstappen, a three-time World Champion, highlighted Mugello’s track layout, with its abundance of fast corners, making it particularly enjoyable for F1 cars. In the 2020 Mugello Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton emerged victorious, followed by Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, while Verstappen retired on the opening lap after a multi-car collision.
Verstappen’s perspective on 2024
Verstappen concluded a remarkably dominant season, securing victory in 19 out of the 22 races on his way to claiming his third World Championship. As Red Bull maintains a robust performance, the Dutch driver is considered the frontrunner for success in the upcoming title battle in 2024. When questioned about any adjustments to his approach for the upcoming campaign, Verstappen stated, “Every year is a little bit different. That also depends, of course, on how good the car is going to be. But I think you also just rely a lot on your experience.” He emphasized the significance of consistent performances and acknowledged the continual challenge of maintaining excellence each season.
