Located 70 miles northwest of London, Brackley has served as the headquarters for the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team since the iconic three-pointed star re-entered Formula 1 with its works team in 2010. The team’s operations are housed in a cutting-edge technology center covering an expansive 60,000 square meters. This site is equipped with advanced facilities dedicated to the design, development, manufacturing, assembly, and operation of championship-winning Formula One cars.

The comprehensive facilities include a wind tunnel, dynos, the team’s driver-in-loop simulator, and the production resources essential for continuous season-long development of the race car. Recognized globally, the team’s technology campus stands at the forefront of simulation, lightweight construction, additive manufacturing, generative design, machine learning, and other pioneering technologies.

Brackley is also the base for Mercedes-AMG F1 Applied Science, a business division that offers customized engineering services, combining world-class talent and a high-performance culture with cutting-edge technical capabilities. Created to diversify the company and take on new engineering challenges beyond Formula One, Applied Science recently joined forces with Sir Ben Ainslie and INEOS to establish INEOS Britannia, uniting high-performance marine and automotive engineering to pursue the America’s Cup for Britain.

This site in Brackley holds ISO 14001 certification for international environmental management systems and relies on 100% renewable energy sources for its operations. In 2020, the team’s headquarters achieved Three Star Certification, the highest level in the FIA’s Environmental Accreditation program. Aiming for a 20% annual reduction in carbon footprint, the team actively works to offset unavoidable CO2 emissions through gold-standard carbon offsetting.

With over 950 employees working around the clock, seven days a week, the Brackley site is a hive of activity. In the face of intense competition both on and off the track, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team embraces the demanding nature of its mission, seeking a competitive edge through a commitment to overcoming significant challenges.
