Red Bull presented an Aston Martin challenge.

The team’s reward for a successful 2023 campaign, in which it had the closest rival to Red Bull throughout the first few races, was eight podiums and more than five times as many points as in 2022.

Red Bull won 21 of the 22 races, although the team fell back in the middle of the season as upgrades did not perform as planned. It finished sixth in the standings.

Although Mike Krack, the boss, and Tom McCullough, the performance director, were happy with the development, they felt that one of the main goals for 2024 should be to get trackside operations up to the Red Bull standard.

“Now on top of that, we’re obviously trying to design and create a vehicle to go fight at the front, and we had a power unit, or more accurately, an exhaust problem, in Jeddah, and a rear wing in Suzuka that broke during production.

“If we want to battle at the front, we need to do these things as a team, and you have to have flawless weekends every single time.

“Red Bull provides yet another illustration that addresses both operational and dependability issues.

“That is the level we must achieve, and it involves not only concentrating on one area but also several others where we must make tiny improvements.
