An Alabama offensive lineman has been apprehended for reportedly intentionally transmitting STD

A member of the Alabama football team, Elijah Pritchett, has reportedly been arrested for allegedly intentionally spreading a sexually transmitted disease.

The offensive lineman, 19 years old, was taken into custody in Tuscaloosa, and according to AL.com, he was subsequently released on a $500 bond following a report filed against him on December 13.

According to AL.com, a warrant was issued under the state code, stating, “Any person afflicted with a sexually transmitted disease who shall knowingly transmit, assume the risk of transmitting, or do any act which will probably or likely transmit such disease to another person.”

The charge against Elijah Pritchett is classified as a Class C misdemeanor in the state of Alabama, which could result in a potential three-month jail sentence or fines up to $500.

As of Saturday afternoon, neither the Tuscaloosa Police Department nor the University of Alabama have immediately responded to emails seeking comment.

Earlier in the season, Pritchett shared playing time with Kadyn Proctor on the left side. However, Proctor eventually received more playing time and has become the primary player in recent weeks.

During the SEC title game against Georgia, Elijah Pritchett did not register any offensive snaps, a crucial matchup that secured Alabama’s spot in the College Football Playoff. Approximately two weeks later, Pritchett initially announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. However, he later reversed course and chose to remain with the team.

In a statement to On3, Elijah Pritchett clarified his stance, stating, “Transferring is not in my best interest. I apologize for any and all inconveniences. I’m 100% locked in. Roll Tide!”

Following this statement, Pritchett resumed practicing with Alabama on December 16 in preparation for their Rose Bowl matchup against No. 1 Michigan in the College Football Playoff. At that time, the Tide was ranked No. 4 in the standings.

Elijah Pritchett, a highly touted prospect, entered Alabama as a five-star recruit and was ranked as the fifth-best offensive lineman in the Class of 2022. After participating in only two games last season, he redshirted to extend his eligibility and development.
