Reaction to Max Verstappen's denial of Mercedes supercar hiring due to his "too young" age
Sixt has reassured Max Verstappen of his future car hire freedom after he was reportedly denied the opportunity to rent a Mercedes AMG GT while on holiday due to being “too young” for the insurance. Despite renting around 20 cars from Sixt for a racing trip in Portugal, Verstappen was unable to drive the Mercedes AMG GT and had to settle for a BMW 5 Series.
Sixt explained that their insurance policy prohibits individuals under 30 from driving certain supercars. However, Sixt assured Verstappen that special exemptions would be made for him in the future, acknowledging his driving skills and experience with powerful cars. The trip to Portugal was part of Verstappen’s off-season plans, with a stopover on his way to Brazil for his brother-in-law’s wedding.
