Novak Djokovic has revealed his desire to continue playing tennis until the age of 40 and possibly even beyond, emphasizing that he sees no reason to stop while he is still performing at a high level.

Drawing inspiration from American football icon Tom Brady, who competed at the highest level in the NFL into his mid-40s, the Serbian tennis great has learned from such examples.

Currently, at the age of 36, Djokovic stands as the oldest player in the top 20 of the ATP Rankings and one of only two men over 28, the other being world No. 14 Grigor Dimitrov at 32. Despite his age, Djokovic, the world No. 1, enjoyed one of the best seasons of his illustrious career in 2023, securing seven titles, six of which were claimed at significant tournaments

In the current year, Djokovic triumphed in three out of the four Grand Slam tournaments and has emerged victorious in four of the last five Majors he participated in. His remarkable achievements include reaching the Wimbledon final in 2023, where he engaged in a captivating five-set match against Carlos Alcaraz but ultimately finished as the runner-up.

Impressively, Djokovic has claimed 12 of his 24 Grand Slam titles during his 30s, maintaining a stellar 12-3 record in Major finals since turning 30. Notably, at the US Open in September, he surpassed all but Ken Rosewall and Roger Federer in winning a Major at an older age.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion is set to compete against the world No. 2 and two-time Major winner Carlos Alcaraz in an exhibition match scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on December 27th.
