The ‘World Championship’ of crashes List

The 'World Championship' of crashes is the one list where you want to be the driver at the bottom.

Which driver incurred the highest expenses in terms of damages during the 2023 Formula 1 season?

It’s the ranking that no driver aspires to lead, as it implies that they likely caused a considerable amount of crash damage throughout the year.

Logan Sargeant claimed the top spot on the list after challenging races at the Dutch and Japanese Grands Prix, bringing his total to $4.3 million. Sargeant had two crashes at Zandvoort, resulting in a cost of $1.4 million for Williams. The team even disclosed that the numerous crashes impacted the development for 2024, with Alex Albon’s total damage reaching $2.7 million.

Second on the list is Carlos Sainz, primarily due to two significant crashes during the season. The Spaniard encountered a loose manhole cover in Las Vegas, followed by a crash a week later in Abu Dhabi, resulting in a substantial cost of two million dollars for Ferrari. Additional damages in Monaco, Canada, and Belgium brought the total to $3.6 million.

Securing the final spot on the podium is Sergio Perez. The Mexican accrued $3.2 million in damage, with the most notable crash occurring in Monaco during qualifying, costing Red Bull over a million dollars.

The list, compiled by basspro24chevy on Reddit, meticulously tracked all damages throughout the year and estimated these amounts. Note that this does not include costs for broken engines.
