After two of his main opponents were penalized last year, Max Verstappen wants Formula One rules modified.

Following the United States Grand Prix, FIA officials discovered excessive plank wear on the undersides of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s vehicles. As a result, they were disqualified and the points they thought they had won were taken away from them.

Excessive plank wear indicates that the vehicle is being driven too low to the ground. However, the fact that the Circuit of the Americas circuit is extremely rough, as well as the adoption of the Sprint format that weekend, were key factors in this situation.

Due to parc ferme guidelines, teams were unable to change their setups after only one practice session on Friday. As a result, even when a possible problem was discovered after qualifying, Mercedes and Ferrari were helpless to address it without triggering a pit lane start for their drivers.

Verstappen is not sure that this rule is equitable. Despite the fact that he did not fall foul of it and benefited from his competitors losing their results and points, the Red Bull driver believes parc ferme rules should be changed to avoid recurrence in the future.

“After the first practice, you’re locked in,” the Dutchman said, according to Auto Motor und Sport. “If you went even slightly off-track in FP1, you’ll be stuck with that setup for the rest of the Sprint weekend.” That’s terrible.

“This year has seen some really good Sprint weekends, but I wasn’t completely satisfied.” Consider the ride height at Austin: Mercedes and Ferrari did not intentionally set their vehicles too low..
