News Flash:Southampton is considering the loaned player from Aston Villa.

Several Southampton fans have reportedly spotted a potential new recruit at St Mary’s. According to therealefl.co.uk, Finn Azaz, presently on loan at Plymouth Argyle, is being considered by Southampton. The report suggests that Southampton is contemplating an offer for Azaz, and if they proceed, Aston Villa is ready to bring him back from his loan at Plymouth and potentially sell him permanently to Southampton or any other club that presents an acceptable offer.

Despite Finn Azaz’s impressive performance in the Championship, his current valuation is reportedly around £1.5 million, which some consider low given his contributions from the center of Plymouth Argyle’s midfield—scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists.

Azaz played a significant role in Plymouth’s recent victory, featuring for 78 minutes. Having started 25 out of 26 Championship games and coming on as a substitute in the remaining 5, Azaz has been a consistent presence in the team.

This marks Azaz’s second consecutive season on loan at Home Park, and at 23 years old, it appears Aston Villa has decided that he may not secure a spot in their first team. Azaz initially began his career in West Bromwich Albion’s academy, had a loan stint with Cheltenham in League Two during the 2020–21 season, and joined Aston Villa in the summer of 2021. However, he was immediately loaned out to Newport County for a season in League Two, where he played 42 times and scored 7 goals. Saints fans first saw him during the 8-0 League Cup victory when he played the first 45 minutes for Newport County against Southampton.

Upon returning to Villa Park in the summer of 2022, Finn Azaz was once again loaned out, this time to Plymouth Argyle. He played a key role in their promotion-winning team in the 2022–23 season and returned to Home Park on loan for the current season.

While Azaz may seem like an unconventional signing for Southampton, given his track record and stats that demonstrate his capability in the Championship, there may be skepticism about his Premier League readiness. However, the fact that his contract with Villa expires in the summer could explain why he is being linked with various clubs, including Southampton.

The situation suggests that Azaz’s agent is actively exploring potential options, possibly applying pressure on Plymouth to secure a permanent deal. Villa might also be trying to increase his value, and with a price tag of £1.5 million, he appears to be a potential bargain. The actual transfer fee could potentially rise if a bidding war ensues.

Considering Azaz’s notable achievements in the EFL across all three divisions and his impressive contributions this season, the idea of his signing for Southampton might have more substance than initially perceived. His goal-scoring and assist record in central midfield is a valuable asset that Southampton currently lacks.
