Raducanu had been out with injuries since April, but he made a victorious comeback on Tuesday at the ASB Classic. Raducanu’s protected ranking was not high enough to win her direct entry to the Australian Open at the time of the entry deadline in December.

However, following the withdrawals of numerous main-draw players, including French Open finalist Karolina Muchova, two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, Irina-Camelia Begu, Caty McNally, and now Davis, Raducanu is now able to escape the qualifying round. She will compete in her first Grand Slam competition since the Australian Open last year.

The Australian Open began on January 14th.
