Celtic player Matt O’Riley will successfully undergo a medical examination amidst transfer speculations linking him to Aston Villa
Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, who is attracting interest from Aston Villa and West Ham, is expected to successfully complete his medical examination this month, as indicated by Dr. Rajpal Brar.
The injury specialist has evaluated his health history over the past two seasons and asserts that the English player is in optimal condition for any club considering signing him.
On December 22nd, Sky Sports disclosed that, in addition to Aston Villa and West Ham, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and PSV Eindhoven have all been closely observing the 23-year-old during his Champions League matches.
They argue that persuading them to part ways with him in January would require an offer surpassing £25 million, which stands as Celtic’s transfer record.
In discussing this scenario, Dr. Brar, a physical therapy doctor and sports scientist, commented to Villa News:
“The most valuable trait is his consistent presence on the field, so his history of playing is highly valued and reflects his dedication and habits off the pitch.
He has participated in nearly every game since last season, which is certainly praiseworthy.
If he does decide to leave in the January transfer window, he is expected to successfully undergo his medical with no issues.”
The 23-year-old has been in outstanding form for Celtic this season, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists in 21 league appearances. Additionally, he has contributed three assists in six Champions League games, demonstrating his effectiveness against strong opponents as well.
Whether Aston Villa possesses the financial means and willingness to make a substantial investment in O’Riley during the January transfer window remains uncertain. Their unusual position of not only securing a top-four finish but also leading the league may lead the owners to consider increased spending.
In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports pundit has strongly criticized a first-team player, labeling his recent actions as “foolish.”
