Verstappens responds to Perez’s insult, saying, ‘That’s the real secret to becoming a good F1 driver.’
Both Red Bull drivers earned two wins after four races in the 2023 Formula One season.
Max Verstappen’s 2023 world victory was one of the most dominant in Formula One history. However, at the start of the season, Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez each had two wins to their names after four races.
Verstappen entered the Miami Grand Prix with a small six-point lead. There has been talk of a two-way fight, but Verstappen believes the start of the 2023 season should be taken into account.
“You must paint the entire picture.” Verstappen told Auto Motor und Sport, “I had to start from 15th place in Saudi Arabia.”
“In Baku, I was barely fined by the safety car. So, in my opinion, talking about a level playing field is misleading. Because that’s not how I saw it.
“You have to consider all of the circumstances that led up to it.” That has tainted the impression.”
Verstappen: I’m not interested in what other people think.
Verstappen became more comfortable with the RB19 as they approached the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
“Various settings must be brought together. “Through the steering wheel, you can adjust brake balance, differential, and engine braking,” he continued.
“The new tires also perform differently. Dealing with them, and using them in different ways, appeared to help me get more out of the car.”
This launched the Dutchman on a run of ten consecutive race victories, which was later broken by Carlos Sainz at the Singapore Grand Prix in October.
