Accused Serial Baseball Card Thief Arrested Again For Allegedly Stealing Thousands of Dollars in Target Cards
He is charged with three felonies and one misdemeanor.
On December 28, a Pennsylvania man was arrested after reportedly stealing sports cards worth more than $3,000 from two Target locations.
According to court documents obtained by The US Sun, Stephen Thomas Naglaa, 46, is facing three third-degree felony counts for retail theft of more than $1,000 and one misdemeanor charge for receiving stolen property.
The allegations stem from two distinct instances that occurred in November and December.
On Nov. 4, Naglak allegedly stole $2,779 in NFL and MLB trading cards from a Target in Muncy, according to Sergeant James Taylor of NorthcentralPA.com.
In the men’s department, he allegedly “staged” a shopping cart full of cards. Taylor stated that he then drove his automobile to the back of the store, piled the cards into his car, and drove away.
Two employees stated that they attempted to stop Naglak but eventually lost track of him.
Naglak is also suspected of taking $1,156 in sports trading cards on December 10 from a Target in Selinsgrove.
Naglak allegedly walked out of the store with NFL, MLB, and NBA cards in his basket, according to State Police Trp. Jacob Kozma of NorthcentralPA.com.
On December 14, the Muncy Township Police Department executed a search warrant at Naglak’s residence in Montgomery. Authorities discovered over 800 packs of trading cards inside the home.
Naglak is also a suspect in a Virginia trading card theft. On December 7, he allegedly attempted to steal cards from a Walmart in Montoursville, but he was thwarted by an emergency exit and drove away. He left behind a cart containing nearly $4,000 in playing cards.
Muncy’s bail was set at $50,000, and the matter was waived for court. He was confined to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail in the Selinsgrove case.
Naglak is scheduled to appear in court for both cases on Monday.
