On Monday, the St. Louis Cardinals welcomed Chaim Bloom into their fold as an advisor to John Mozeliak, the team’s president of baseball operations. This move comes after Bloom’s departure from the Boston Red Sox in September, where he served as the chief baseball officer. With a wealth of experience, including 15 years in the Tampa Bay Rays’ baseball operations department, Bloom played a pivotal role in transforming the small-market club into a consistent contender.

John Mozeliak expressed enthusiasm about Bloom’s addition, stating, “I have known Chaim for a long time and feel that this is a great opportunity for the St. Louis Cardinals.” Emphasizing the value of an outside perspective, Mozeliak sees Bloom’s well-respected reputation as an asset. The 40-year-old executive, who played a key role in guiding the Red Sox to the 2021 AL Championship Series, will now contribute his expertise to the Cardinals’ baseball operations.

Bloom, a 2004 graduate of Yale, commenced his career with the San Diego Padres and Major League Baseball. In response to his new role, he conveyed excitement, stating, “I’m excited to join the Cardinals and to be a part of this great organization.” Acknowledging the warm welcome from Mozeliak and his team, Bloom looks forward to building relationships, contributing, and helping the Cardinals achieve success on the field.
