‘Results don’t matter,’ Emma Raducanu said as the British player got ready for his Australian Open comeback.

Emma Raducanu must focus more on staying fit rather than beating her opponents, according to Laura Robson.

According to Robson, the 21-year-old should just be happy to be back playing basketball after an extended injury layoff.

Raducanu hasn’t participated in a Grand Slam since losing in the second round of the Australian Open the previous year.

Only recently has she resumed her activities after undergoing surgery on both hands and her left ankle in April of last year.

Earlier this month, the 2021 US Open champion competed in the ASB Classic in Auckland, where she defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse before falling to second seed Elina Svitolina.

Early next week, Raducanu will take on American Shelby Rogers in her Australian Open debut.

Robson has experience playing through pain because he had to retire in 2022 from an injury.

She feels she has the perfect support team around her and is happy to see Raducanu back doing what she does best.

“I’m so happy to see Emma Raducanu back on court,” Robson said to Sky Sports.

“I know how much work she’s put in over the past six or seven months, but I feel like she’s regaining some of the excitement of playing tennis the way she did when she first picked up a racket and wanted to smash the ball.”

She excels at doing that.

“She seems really excited to be out there, judging by the smile on her face.

“Ian Bates, who has worked with her for the most part over the past few months, is supporting her, and Nick Cavaday has come in to provide additional assistance and some additional direction.

“I know she is big on doing a lot of the research herself before she faces someone, but it’s always handy to have someone with you.”

According to Robson, Raducanu will have stiff competition in the tournament’s opening round from 31-year-old Rogers.

“I worked really hard during the off-season.

“But achieving that level of consistency will take more time, no matter how good I feel in practice or on the court on any given day.

“I’ve been working correctly and consistently. I simply have to keep going farther and farther.”
