The recent months have been incredibly thrilling for Scott Zary, who has experienced numerous firsts. Among them was witnessing his son, Connor Zary, play his first NHL game and scoring his inaugural NHL goal just six minutes into that debut on November 1 against the Dallas Stars. Subsequently, Connor solidified his role as a consistent contributor for the Flames, securing a position on the team’s second line alongside Nazem Kadri and Martin Pospisil.

 

For a parent, watching their child work diligently throughout their life and witnessing them achieve their dreams is an incredible experience. Scott, who has been with the Saskatoon Police Service for two decades, expressed the emotional impact of seeing Connor surpass expectations and establish himself in the NHL. He highlighted Connor’s dedication and the joy of witnessing his son’s success, emphasizing the pride and excitement felt by the entire family.

Despite initial hopes for Connor’s success as an NHL player, even during the September training camp, few predicted the rapid and remarkable breakthrough he achieved in the current season. With an impressive points-per-game average, Connor has proven himself to be one of the standout rookies in the NHL.

Scott, who joined the Flames for their Dads Trip, shared his joy in watching his son’s hockey journey and experiencing the NHL up close. The Dads Trip offered a unique opportunity for Scott to observe Connor’s life in the NHL, bond with his teammates and their dads, and gain insights into the behind-the-scenes aspects of the sport.
