Leicester City’s goalkeeper Mears has entered into a dual-registration agreement with Nottingham Forest.
The young player has yet to make her debut in the senior team for Leicester City, having only served as a substitute on a few occasions. Recognizing the importance of gaining experience at the senior level, Mears has taken the next step in her development by securing playing time in the third tier with Nottingham Forest.
The transfer was completed in time for Nottingham Forest’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Plymouth Argyle, where Mears was included as a substitute in their 6-1 victory. In the upcoming weeks, she will be in competition with Emily Batty for the first-choice goalkeeping position.
Leicester City is strategically utilizing their connections in the Midlands to aid in the development of their young talents. Mears is the second player to embark on a dual-registration deal in the current transfer window, following defender Jess Reavill, who recently joined West Bromwich Albion to play in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division for the remainder of the season.
