Principal owner of the Mercedes team Toto Wolff is adamant that Lewis Hamilton can win a record-tying eighth world championship if he has a competitive vehicle.
Hamilton has won six world championships and Mercedes has won eight straight constructors’ crowns from 2014 to 2021, demonstrating the tremendous success of their historic collaboration.
Wolff is still upbeat despite recent setbacks, such as the F1 regulatory reset in 2022 that hurt Mercedes and allowed Red Bull to dominate in 2023 with 21 victories out of 22 races.
Wolff: Hamilton is able to regain the lead.
Wolff emphasized that Hamilton, the most successful driver in Formula One history, is still capable of winning a championship if he has the proper equipment available as the next season draws near.
If Hamilton can win another Formula One World Championship, Wolff responded, “Clearly yes, and I emphasise that strongly,” to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Lewis’s talent level is better, which explains why he has shattered all records and won seven world championships. He can regain his reputation in the eyes of everyone if we provide him with a reliable vehicle.
