A newcomer to the Atlanta Braves, Jarred Kelenic, shared insights into his signing process with Alex Anthopoulos. The Braves, having undergone significant changes in the offseason, made a pivotal move by acquiring the 24-year-old outfielder from the Seattle Mariners, Jarred Kelenic, on December 3rd, in exchange for Cole Phillips and Jackson Kowar.

During a recent appearance on Foul Territory’s YouTube podcast, Kelenic reflected on his initial meeting with Anthopoulos. He described it as “super refreshing,” emphasizing Anthopoulos’s straightforward and no-nonsense approach. Kelenic appreciated the directness of the conversation, where Anthopoulos laid out the situation, the team’s valuation of him, and expressed anticipation in getting to know him better. Coming from a family with a similar no-nonsense mentality, Kelenic felt that this transparent communication boded well for his experience with the Braves.

Kelenic, who had a strong season with the Mariners before a broken foot led to him being placed on the injured list, expressed confidence in his ability to handle the truth. He acknowledged that the Braves had chosen him as their starting left fielder, and Anthopoulos believes in his potential to live up to the expectations surrounding his career. With a fresh start in Atlanta, Kelenic is optimistic about his performance in the upcoming 2024 season.
