Corey Perry Considering Signing With Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have battled their way back into a Western Conference Wild Card berth this season after starting the year at the bottom of the league standings. More positive news recently as the squad has been linked to seasoned forward Corey Perry. The 38-year-old is reportedly interested in signing a contract with the team.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has granted Perry permission to rejoin the league, allowing him to sign with any team. The Chicago Blackhawks ended his contract earlier this season because of an incident that they felt was against the organization’s values and went against their code of conduct. Several teams will probably be interested in his services if he is given permission to return.

Prior to his release, Perry played in 16 games for the Blackhawks, recording four goals, five assists, and a minus-5 rating.

Frank Seravalli stated during an appearance on OilersNation Everyday that although many teams are interested in Perry and are conducting due research, Perry has a genuine desire in joining the Oilers.Prior to his release, Perry played in 16 games for the Blackhawks, recording four goals, five assists, and a minus-5 rating.

“The Oilers are on a list of five to seven teams, They’ve put themselves in a position where they are in the conversation for his services. I think too they wanted to find out what Perry has been up to since leaving the Blackhawks.”

NHL Teams Interested In Perry

Although Perry hasn’t had any official contact with a different team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, and Florida Panthers are all teams that could be a good fit.

Nonetheless, it appears that Perry and the Oilers have similar interests, so perhaps the Oilers can work out a deal. If he decides to sign, he would be a terrific addition to the team’s bottom six forward group and probably sign for less than the $4 million he signed for the Blackhawks.
