Quinn Hughes, captain of the Vancouver Canucks, wants management to look for a veteran defenseman worth $18,000,000

The Vancouver Canucks may be looking to reunite with a former comrade in order to bolster their defense prior to the impending trade deadline, even in the midst of an incredible season. They may be considering Chris Tanev, who spent ten seasons with Vancouver before relocating to Calgary in 2020, according to reports. Quinn Hughes, the team captain, is excited about this reunion as well.

Hughes, according to `  of “Donnie and Dhali,” has been an outspoken advocate for Tanev, pushing management to take the seasoned defenseman into consideration:

At 34, Tanev is in the last year of a four-year, $18 million contract with the Flames. This season, he has played 44 games, is leading the team in blocked shots and is on the ice an average of 19:28 minutes per game.

Furthermore, Chris Tanev and Nikita Zadorov get along well. Zadorov was a great addition from Calgary, and the Vancouver Canucks defense could get better with Tanev in the mix.

Elias Lindholm of the Flames is coveted by the Vancouver Canucks as a top-6 forward.
The Vancouver Canucks are rumored to be looking for a top-six forward. There’s been talk recently that they’re interested in Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm. Elliotte Friedman, an NHL specialist, talked about the rumors on the “32 Thoughts” podcast:

“I think [Elias Lindholm] is another guy that they’ve shown some interest in.”
Lindholm fits the Canucks’ search criterion because of his versatility, as he can play both center and wing. Though his current campaign hasn’t been the best, the rumor is strengthened by the knowledge that Vancouver and Calgary have previously entered into a contract.

The Vancouver Canucks are determined to acquire a top-six forward, as Friedman noted, citing players such as Jake Guentzel as possible targets. But the team is supposedly not prepared to give up on elite prospects, so its first-round pick is probably going to be useful in negotiations.

Due to Lindholm’s availability, a number of teams, notably the Colorado Avalanche, have expressed interest in him. This has created a competitive environment for the Canucks to pursue the Flames forward.
