Breaking News: Canterbury Bulldogs have signed a Super League star

Ahead of the 2024 season and his transfer to the St George Illawarra Dragons, the Canterbury Bulldogs have released Raymond Faitala-Mariner, who was connected to the Super League.

The three May brothers—Taylan May from the Penrith Panthers, Terrell May from the Sydney Roosters, and Tyrone May from Hull KR in the Super League—are targets for the Bulldogs, who are in the process of rebuilding.

They have made some significant additions, and now that they have the salary cap flexibility to look for a successor, they may be ready to make another.

Following Faitala-Mariner’s release, the Bulldogs released the following press release:

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have released Raymond Faitala-Mariner from his contract with immediate effect.

Both on and off the field, Faitala-Mariner has benefited the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs would like to congratulate him for his dedication and hard work throughout his tenure at Belmore. He has ran out for the Club 102 times.

“The Club sends its best wishes for the future to him and his family.”

Canterbury intends to pursue a Super League player

The Canterbury Bulldogs may now sign a replacement and have more room on the pay cap.

Prior to the 2024 season, they attempted to sign Siua Tauekiaho of the Catalan Dragons, but the deal fell through since it was thought to be all but certain.

He was scheduled to sign a two-year contract with the Bulldogs, but both their salary constraint predicament and the Dragons’ refusal to release him until a suitable transfer for the Tongan international was arranged created delays.

After a failed medical, the interest was terminated, but the Bulldogs want to explore their alternatives for the 2024 and 2025 seasons now that they have salary cap room.
