On January 29 in Blackhawks History

On January 29, 1965, Dominik Hasek, an NHL goalie and Hall of Famer, was born. In the 1983 NHL Draft, Hasek was selected by the Blackhawks in the tenth round. With the Blackhawks, the Czech goalie appeared in just 25 regular-season games and finished with a 13-4-2 record,.897 save percentage, and 2.58 goals against average. In six postseason games with Chicago, Hasek finished with a 0-2 record,.899 save percentage, and a 2.92 goals-against average.

Hasek was traded by the Blackhawks to the Buffalo Sabres on August 7, 1992, in return for Stephane Beauregard and a 1993 NHL Draft fourth-round pick. The Blackhawks’ first-round pick, Eric Daze, had a successful 11-year career with Chicago, but Hasek went on to have a Hall of Fame career, primarily with the Detroit Red Wings and the Sabres.
