After their breakout, four Reds players rank among the top rookies.
Several rookies from the Cincinnati Reds were selected to the top National League rookie list. The Cincinnati Reds media page and MLB Network worked together to create a piece that highlighted four outstanding rookies.
The players who were selected are listed below:
Fourth, Spencer Steer
Steer is a gifted youngster who saw action in 156 games and 582 plate appearances in the previous year. In the end, he ended with 178 hits, 23 home runs, and a.271 batting average. In terms of hits (158), home runs (86), RBI (86), and on-base percentage (.356), he topped the squad.
McLain, a former UCLA student, dominated the opposition all season long. With a.290 batting average, 16 home runs, and 50 RBI, he appeared in 89 games. Despite only being 24 years old, McLain seems to have a significant role in their future.
Andrew Abbott, No. 9
Abbott was the Reds’ 2023 pitcher of the year. He made 21 starts, going 8–6 overall and recording nine excellent starts. Abbott pitched 109.1 innings and gave up 120 strikeouts while giving up 100 hits, 47 earned runs, and 16 home runs. The outstanding pitcher’s future accomplishments are anticipated by the fans.
Elly De La Cruz, No. 10
This season, De La Cruz was one of the most anticipated prospects. After 98 games played, he concluded his rookie season with an average of.235, 13 home runs, and 44 RBI.
De La Cruz became the first player from the Reds since Eric Davis in 1989 to bat for the cycle.
With the 2024 season only a few months away, it’s safe to say that Reds supporters have something to be excited about!
