Breaking News: Emma Raducanu provides a new progress report on her medical recovery

Emma Raducanu declared she was “throwing up in my mouth” following her Australian Open defeat, and she later claimed that her protracted injury layoff had made her “tougher.” After undergoing three operations in May of last year, the former US Open champion was participating in just her fourth match.

She also struggled on the court, needing a medical break at 0-2 in the decisive set to have her blood pressure tested and take medication. Ultimately, she lost 6-4 4-6 6-4 against Yafan Wang, the world No. 94 from China.

However, Raducanu stated in her news conference following the game: “I feel a little bit better now.” I believe I was 30-Love up serving in the third set of the match. Then, all of a sudden, I was feeling really weak and queasy. I believe everyone saw that the third set was more of a struggle.

Raducanu has struggled with ailments ever since her victory in New York. In 2022, she played with a blister on her racquet hand.
