Ben Stokes discusses Shoaib Bashir’s “viral” spell against…

India vs. England: Ben Stokes shared how he watched a video on Twitter and was amazed by Shoaib Bashir’s bowling. After a visa delay, Shoaib Bashir rejoined the England squad on Sunday, January 27.

Social media is incredibly powerful. The fate of any regular individual may alter drastically in an instant with just one tap. The tale of England’s uncapped spinner Shoaib Bashir’s selection to the team is similar. Ben Stokes, the captain, said that after watching a video of Bashir’s bowling that was shared on Twitter, he was really pleased.

On his Somerset debut against Essex, Bashir bowled a brilliant performance against former England captain Alastair Cook. Stokes was pleased by the young bowler’s style even though he only claimed one wicket, and he thought his off-spin would be useful for the India tour. Impressed, Stokes sent Rob Key, the management director, and head coach Brendon McCullum Bashir’s footage.

“To be perfectly honest, Abu Dhabi was the first real live look I got at Bash,” Stokes stated. “I saw him for the first time on Twitter. Stokes told ESPNcricinfo, “I believe the County Championship [account] put together a little clip of him bowling against Sir Alastair.”

“Brendon McCullum and Keysy (Rob Key) are in a WhatsApp group with me. After sending the video to someone, I said, “Take a look at this; it might work for our India tour,” and things took off from there. He was chosen for the Lions trip, and we can see that the instructors there gave us all of their knowledge.”
