Toto Wolff’s angry response to Hamilton’s unexpected Mercedes F1 exit..
Since Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff are well-known to be close friends, the former has responded to the latter’s decision to depart the team at the conclusion of the season.
Toto Wolff, the principal and CEO of Mercedes Formula 1, has responded to Lewis Hamilton’s decision to leave the team.
At the conclusion of the next Formula One season, Hamilton will go from Mercedes and sign a multi-year contract with Ferrari, a rival team.
With Mercedes, the 39-year-old became the most successful driver in Formula One history, having won six of his seven championships with the Brackley-based team.
Although Hamilton signed a two-year contract extension with Mercedes last year, he has chosen to exercise an option that was included in the second season.
Over their ten-year collaboration, the seven-time World Champion and Wolff forged a close relationship.
Even while Wolff said he is looking forward to “exciting opportunities” once Hamilton leaves, the Austrian insisted he is committed to finishing the relationship strong.
“We can look back on our relationship with Lewis with pride as the most successful team-driver pairing in the history of the sport; Lewis will always hold a special place in Mercedes motorsport history,” Wolff remarked.
But we always knew that eventually, our collaboration would come to an end, and that time has now arrived.
“We respect Lewis’s choice to go for a new challenge, and it’s thrilling to think about the options we have ahead of us.
“But for now, we are focused on racing to deliver a strong 2024, and we still have one season left.”
