Breaking News: Bill Belichick’s Son interviewed for college job with Big Ten team.

Following Bill Belichick’s departure from the New England Patriots, several members of his coaching staff, including his son Steve Belichick, are in search of new opportunities. Steve, who had been part of the Patriots since 2012, initially as a defensive assistant, then progressing to roles as safeties coach and, most recently, as the outside linebackers coach, is exploring potential options in the college football arena.

In contrast to his father, who seems poised to take a break from coaching in the 2024 season, Steve Belichick is reportedly considering a return to the sidelines at the college level. According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Steve Belichick and another former Patriots assistant, Vinnie Sunseri, underwent interviews with the University of Washington on Friday. The university is set to join the Big Ten in 2024.

The interviews are for defensive positions on the coaching staff led by Jedd Fisch at the University of Washington. Steve Belichick, who called plays for the Patriots’ defense in the past four seasons, and Sunseri both have ties to Fisch, who previously served as an assistant coach with the Patriots in 2020.

Despite an offer from newly appointed Patriots head coach David Mayo for Steve Belichick to return, along with safeties coach Brian Belichick, it appears that the Belichick duo is exploring alternative opportunities. While it remains unclear if positions were officially offered to Belichick and Sunseri at Washington, the indications suggest that the possibility of their return to New England is becoming less likely.
