The Sydney Roosters have formally named Alan Katzmann as the Club’s inaugural Historian. Katzmann, a Football Club Life Member and a member of the Club’s newly established Heritage Committee, possesses extensive knowledge and insight into the history of the Roosters, having been a dedicated supporter of the Club for nearly six decades.
In recent years, Katzmann has been actively involved in safeguarding the Club’s historical records through contributions to the Sydney Roosters History website. He will continue to contribute to this initiative alongside other members of the Heritage Committee.
Sydney Roosters CEO Joe Kelly emphasized the significance of appointing a Club Historian. “Our Heritage Committee comprises several influential figures within our Club, and having an official Club Historian will aid in the ongoing preservation of our legacy,” Mr. Kelly stated. “Alan’s deep appreciation for the Sydney Roosters’ extensive history is evident. Few individuals have demonstrated as enduring a commitment to the Club as Alan, and as a Life Member, he has witnessed many of our most memorable moments, both on and off the field.”
“I am deeply honored to accept this role and thrilled that the Club recognizes and values my dedication to commemorating and honoring the rich history of the Roosters,” stated Alan Katzmann, newly appointed Sydney Roosters Club Historian. “Honoring Our History is a fundamental component of the Club’s strategic plan, and with the appointment of a Club Historian, we can make significant strides towards achieving this objective. In essence, this appointment will facilitate the consolidation and integration of our Club’s history.” Katzmann expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I am truly grateful to have been offered this role and am excited that the Club shares my enthusiasm for commemorating and celebrating the illustrious history of the Roosters, a Club that has been an integral part of my life for almost six decades.”
