Jarrett Allen’s Response Applauded by Donovan Mitchell as Cleveland Cavaliers Extend Winning Streak to Eight Games

Donovan Mitchell, star guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, expressed his satisfaction with Jarrett Allen’s response to Ben Simmons during the team’s recent road victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.

Mitchell commented, “He got up quick as heck. I was a little nervous. Not gonna lie. I was like, ‘Uh oh.’ Jarrett pushed me a little bit and I was like, ‘I’m not even going to get involved. You go do your thing.’ I’ve never seen him do that. It was significant, and then for us to respond the way we did as a group, I was pleased about it. I don’t condone violence. But in this instance, I was pleased he reacted the way he did and kind of set that tone.”

Simmons had pushed Allen to the ground while the two were vying for position, prompting Allen to retaliate by shoving Simmons back.

Allen made an impact on both ends of the court against his former team, tallying 14 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks on 3-of-6 shooting from the field and 0-of-1 from beyond the arc.

The 25-year-old center has been among the top centers in the NBA this season. He has played in 45 games for the Cavaliers during the 2023-24 regular season, averaging 15.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.

Mitchell, his teammate, also delivered an impressive performance against the Nets, scoring 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range. He added five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks.

Cleveland’s win over the Nets extended their winning streak to eight games, the longest active streak in the Eastern Conference.

The Cavaliers have made significant strides in the Eastern Conference standings in recent weeks, currently holding the second-best record in the conference at 34-16, trailing the Boston Celtics by four-and-a-half games for the best record in the NBA.

Additionally, the Milwaukee Bucks, holding the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, are two games behind the Cavaliers in the standings, having recently struggled with a three-game losing streak.

Cleveland’s next opportunity to extend their winning streak will be against the Toronto Raptors on the road on Saturday. With the Raptors posting a 2-8 record over their last 10 games, Cavaliers fans have reason to be optimistic about their team’s chances of securing a ninth consecutive victory.
