Despite ample playing time available for Jonathan India on the Reds, manager David Bell faces the challenge of managing a crowded infield. In 2021, Jonathan India earned the National League Rookie of the Year Award with impressive statistics, including a .269 batting average, .376 on-base percentage, .459 slugging percentage, 21 home runs, 12 steals, and 71 walks.

However, the team ultimately decided to retain him, either due to an inability to secure what they deemed fair value or because they saw keeping him as a more viable option for the time being. The clarity provided by knowing his salary for both 2024 and 2025 may aid the Reds in planning their roster, and it could also enhance India’s trade value by offering other teams cost certainty.
