What type of quarterback would the Giants be acquiring in Jayden Daniels from LSU?

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is widely recognized as one of the most skilled quarterbacks in the upcoming draft class.

The New York Giants, along with several other NFL teams, are in search of a quarterback as the 2024 NFL Draft approaches. Acquiring their next quarterback might necessitate a move up the draft board, and LSU’s Jayden Daniels is one prospect they could target.

As a decorated senior and the 2023 Heisman Trophy recipient, Daniels enters the draft pool as arguably the most talented quarterback in this year’s crop. His standout performance in the past season showcased his impressive stats, including 236 completions for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions, along with 1,134 rushing yards and ten scores on the ground.

After facing challenges with roster changes and coaching transitions at Arizona State, Daniels transferred to LSU in 2022, where he flourished as the starting quarterback. Under the guidance of coach Brian Kelly, Daniels saw significant improvement in his performance, leading the Tigers to a bowl game and achieving remarkable statistics.

Caroline Fenton, host of the LockedOn LSU Podcast, emphasized Daniels’s evolution within Kelly’s offensive system, which elevated him into an elite dual-threat quarterback.

Fenton highlighted Daniels’s growth as a passer, his ability to read defenses, stay composed under pressure, and make plays with both his arm and legs.

In particular, Fenton pointed to Daniels’s development in handling pressure situations, exemplified by his performance against Florida.

Despite facing constant pressure, Daniels demonstrated poise, improvisation, and adaptability, showcasing his strong arm and agility.

Fenton emphasized Daniels’s passing accuracy, post-snap decision-making, and football IQ, highlighting his ability to thrive even when faced with defensive challenges.

She praised his composure and consistency, noting his capacity to remain level-headed in high-pressure scenarios, a crucial attribute for success in both college and NFL football.
