MINNEAPOLIS — Nick Gordon saw his salary arbitration case with the Minnesota Twins go against him on Saturday. Consequently, his salary will increase from $735,400 to $900,000, falling short of his request for $1.25 million.
The decision was made by Jasbir Parmer, Scott Buchheit, and Keith Greenberg after a day of hearing arguments.
This ruling marks the end of the players’ seven-decision winning streak, with the teams now trailing 3-7 in arbitration cases. The next six cases are set for hearings scheduled for next week.
Gordon, a versatile player capable of fielding outfield, second base, and shortstop positions, is 28 years old. In the previous season, he recorded a batting average of .185, hitting two home runs and driving in seven runs across 34 games. This performance marked a decline from his stats in 2022, where he boasted a .272 batting average with nine home runs and 50 RBIs over 136 games.
Unfortunately, Gordon suffered a fracture to his right shin on May 17 when he fouled off a pitch from Dylan Covey of the Los Angeles Dodgers. This injury kept him sidelined until September 15, when he began a six-game rehabilitation stint with Triple-A St. Paul.
Over the course of his three seasons with the Twins, Gordon has accumulated a batting average of .250, along with 15 home runs and 80 RBIs.
