An All-Pro pass rusher is now open for trade with the Falcons.

Apologies, there was an issue loading the video player. It’s evident that there are specific areas needing attention this off season, with none more critical than the quarterback position, which will be the main focus.

Nevertheless, quarterback isn’t the only spot requiring attention. Drake London needs additional support, as does A.J. Terrell. Additionally, bolstering the trenches is always essential, regardless of specific needs, ensuring an ample reserve of linemen is on hand.

Some argue that after quarterback, an edge defender is paramount. Despite Arnold Ebiketie’s progress last season, in today’s NFL, teams can’t have enough pass rushers. An opportunity has arisen with an All-Pro pass rusher becoming available for trade, according to Ian Rapoport, who reports that Haason Reddick has been granted permission by the Eagles to seek a trade.

Reddick, 29, signed a lucrative three-year, $45 million deal with Philadelphia in 2022, amassing 27 sacks over the past two seasons. He’s certainly capitalised on his “prove-it” contract, making a significant leap from a $15 million average annual value (AAV) to likely over $20 million per year. Here are some notable names for comparison:

– Nick Bosa: $34M (AAV)
– T.J. Watt: $28M
– Joey Bosa: $27M
– Myles Garrett: $25M
– Montez Sweat: $24.5M
– Rashan Gary: $24M
– Khalil Mack: $23.5M
– Maxx Crosby: $23.5M

The Falcons have a clear need, and Reddick desires a lucrative contract. However, his potential future contract might strain the Eagles’ cap, especially with extensions looming for core players. Yet, Howie Roseman will only consider moving Reddick in a deal that offers suitable compensation and aligns with their cap management, as reported by Zach Berman.

Depending on the trade cost and the subsequent contract extension, the Falcons should explore the possibility. However, if it doesn’t align with their long-term plans, they should be comfortable staying put.

This year’s free-agent class boasts significant talent, including marquee pass rushers and under-the-radar options. Players like Danielle Hunter, Josh Allen, and Brian Burns headline the first tier, offering consistent double-digit sack potential. The next tier includes players like Bryce Huff, Chase Young, Jadaveon Clowney, and Jonathan Greenard, who could be upgrades without the high cost. Za’Darius Smith and Josh Uche are also potential interests for the Falcons.

Ultimately, if the Eagles’ asking price for Haason Reddick is too steep, there are numerous alternatives available.
