What is the current status of LSU’s recruiting efforts

The LSU football coaching staff is fully engaged in recruiting efforts, particularly cornerback coach Corey Raymond, who has made significant strides in recent weeks. Despite his relatively short tenure at LSU, Raymond has successfully attracted several highly sought-after defensive backs for visits.

After these visits, LSU has begun making progress with some key prospects for the 2025 class. One notable visitor was DJ Pickett, a 5-star defensive back, who spent multiple days in Baton Rouge under Raymond’s guidance. Pickett, ranked as the No. 1 safety in the nation, is being recruited as a versatile player who can contribute at various positions in the secondary.

Raymond’s impact is evident, given his impressive track record both as a coach and as a former standout defensive back for LSU and in the NFL. His passion for the program and his proven success in coaching defensive backs have made a strong impression on recruits like Pickett.

During Pickett’s visit, he interacted with current LSU players, including standout recruiter Keylan Moses, as well as recent signees DaShawn McBryde and Joel Rogers. Their presence highlights the camaraderie and welcoming atmosphere within the LSU program.

Another prospect who recently visited LSU is Dorian Brew, a 4-star cornerback ranked third in the nation at his position. Brew’s unexpected trip to Baton Rouge underscores the growing interest in LSU among elite defensive backs. While experts initially predicted Brew to join Ohio State, his visit to LSU could influence his decision-making process.

LSU is also actively pursuing Anquon Fegans, a top 5 safety prospect. While Fegans has received attention from several top programs, including USC and Auburn, LSU remains in contention for his commitment. The coaching staff is working to maintain communication with Fegans and plans to host him for another visit once the NCAA Recruiting Dead Period concludes.

Additionally, LSU is keeping an eye on other promising prospects, including 4-star cornerback Cobey Sellars and highly-ranked safety Faheem Delane. These players represent potential additions to LSU’s recruiting class as the coaching staff continues to prioritize building a strong defensive unit.
