Carlton Football Club Strengthens Leadership Beyond 2024: Cook and Voss to Continue Leading the Blues

Today, the Carlton Football Club has affirmed the continuity and strength of its leadership, declaring that CEO Brian Cook and AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss will remain at the helm beyond 2024.

Cook, widely acclaimed as one of Australia’s premier sporting administrators, has committed to his role as Chief Executive Officer until at least the conclusion of 2025. Meanwhile, Voss has extended his tenure as the Club’s AFL Senior Coach for an additional two seasons, ensuring his presence until at least the culmination of the 2026 season.

This announcement underscores a significant display of solidarity at IKON Park, with two key figures of the football club collectively demonstrating their dedication to the Blues on the eve of the 2024 AFL season.

Following last week’s unveiling of the Club’s four-player AFL leadership group and President Luke Sayers’ intention to seek an extension of his Term of Office by another 12 months, the commitments of Cook and Voss further fortify the foundation of leadership that has become synonymous with Carlton since their arrival two years ago.

During this period, the Carlton faithful have united with vigor and forged a strong connection with the club. In 2023, the Club boasted an average home crowd of 51,421, selling out 11 of its 26 games, with 81,803 members already enrolled in 2024.

Cook has brought invaluable experience, stability, and values-based leadership to the Carlton Football Club. His leadership philosophy, anchored in Humility, Respect, Unity, Integrity, Relentlessness, and Excellence, has become intrinsic to Carlton’s identity.

As the Club embarks on the third year of its five-year strategic plan, Cook will play a central role in fulfilling the Blues’ off-field strategic objectives while providing unwavering support to the football department.

Under Voss’ stewardship in the past two years, Carlton has achieved significant milestones of progress. The 2022 campaign marked the Club’s highest number of wins in a season since 2011, followed by a fifth-place finish in the home-and-away season in 2023, culminating in a return to finals football for the first time in a decade.

President Luke Sayers emphasized the progress made under Cook and Voss’ leadership, attributing it to the identity of the Club that they have helped establish.

He stated, “The Carlton Football Club has never been more united in who we are and what we stand for. Brian and Michael have been pivotal in establishing that.”

Both Cook and Voss expressed their commitment to the Club’s continual improvement and ambition to achieve greater success in the coming years. They highlighted the pride they felt in the collective effort of the club’s players, staff, and administration, reaffirming their dedication to leading Carlton to further achievements.
