Breaking News: The LSU running back is under arrest and faces attempted murder charges.
LSU running back Trey Holly has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Farmerville, Louisiana, where two individuals sustained injuries, according to Union County sheriff Dusty Gates, as reported by The Advocate in Baton Rouge on Thursday.
The university released a statement acknowledging the arrest of a student-athlete in relation to the shooting, announcing the indefinite suspension of the athlete from all team activities in line with departmental policies.
The statement also noted that LSU would refrain from further comments out of respect for the ongoing judicial process. As per Gates, Holly is charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder,
one count of aggravated criminal damage to property, and one count of illegal use of a weapon. The investigation is ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests.
Holly participated in 11 games for the Tigers during the 2023 season and was among the four scholarship running backs slated to be part of LSU’s roster for the upcoming season.
Originally recruited as a four-star prospect, Holly previously competed for Union Parish High School in Farmerville, situated in the north-central region of Louisiana.
