Thomas Costigan, standing at six feet three inches and weighing 245 pounds, hails from Stamford, Connecticut. The 26-year-old contributed to the Toronto Argonauts’ defense in 2023, tallying 17 tackles, one special teams tackle, and six sacks across 13 games. Costigan was signed by the Argonauts as a free agent on February 14, 2023.
Prior to his time with Toronto, Costigan began his professional career with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He later joined the Edmonton Elks on February 7, 2020, where he played one season, recording 24 tackles and six sacks in 11 games.
Subsequently, Costigan was traded by the Elks to the Montreal Alouettes, along with Nafees Lyon, in exchange for Avery Ellis and a third-round pick in the 2023 CFL Draft on August 31, 2022. During his stint with the Alouettes, he contributed three tackles, one special teams tackle, one sack, and forced two fumbles across seven games.
During his collegiate career, Costigan played four seasons at Bryant University from 2015 to 2018. Throughout his time with the Bulldogs, he amassed 285 tackles (166 solo, 119 assists), 46.5 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, nine pass breakups, one blocked punt, and three interceptions in 44 games. He earned recognition as a two-time First Team All-NEC selection and was named NEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
