What makes Christian Horner’s impending public appearance at the F1 vehicle unveiling noteworthy?

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is set to make his first public appearance today following a complaint of inappropriate behavior lodged against him. The 50-year-old is under investigation by Red Bull officials but is expected to attend the launch of the team’s new Formula One car.

Horner underwent an interview with an independent lawyer on Friday regarding allegations of misconduct toward a female employee. He has refuted these claims.

Red Bull has stated they take the allegations seriously but declined to comment further until the investigation concludes. Horner has not been suspended from his role as F1 team principal and CEO and will continue to fulfill his duties as usual.

The launch of Red Bull’s RB20 car for the upcoming season is scheduled to take place at their Milton Keynes factory today, with Horner expected to be present. While Horner may address the allegations publicly for the first time, he is unlikely to provide detailed commentary on the situation.

Drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are focused on the new F1 campaign and the unveiling of the new car.

Pre-season testing will be held in Bahrain from February 21 to 23, followed by the first race of the season on March 2.

Horner has led Red Bull since the team’s inception in 2005 and oversaw their record-breaking 2023 campaign, during which Red Bull won 21 out of 22 races, with Verstappen securing his third world title.

Horner, who was appointed an OBE in 2013, received a CBE in the New Year’s honors list.

The investigation into Horner’s conduct was initiated on February 5 following a complaint related to allegations of inappropriate controlling behavior. Red Bull has not provided a timeline for the completion of the investigation, stating that it will be concluded as soon as practically possible.
