The LSU running back has been suspended from participating in competitions.

LSU running back Trey Holly and two others have been apprehended following a shooting incident at a Union Parish apartment complex over the past weekend. The incident, which occurred in Holly’s hometown of Farmersville, Louisiana, resulted in injuries to two individuals, with the second-year running back now facing three felony charges.

On Thursday, Holly was charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of a weapon, as reported by sources to LSU Country. According to The Advocate, Holly intends to plead not guilty to all charges as the investigation progresses.

The sophomore running back voluntarily surrendered himself on Thursday and was subsequently booked at the Union Parish Detention Center while authorities continue their inquiry. Sources familiar with the matter anticipate further arrests as others allegedly involved come to light.

The incident transpired at the Union Villa Apartments in Farmersville on February 9th, with one woman sustaining three gunshot wounds, leaving her in critical condition, according to The Advocate. Another man was shot once in the lower leg.

The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office, leading the investigation, determined that three shooters discharged multiple rounds, with the shooting stemming from prior altercations at the apartment complex. Several individuals of interest were identified as the investigation progressed throughout the week.

In response to the situation, the LSU football program issued a statement indicating that the implicated student-athlete has been indefinitely suspended from all team activities in accordance with departmental policies, citing respect for the judicial process and refraining from further commentary.

The situation continues to evolve as Holly, a sophomore running back for the Tigers, undergoes legal proceedings.

Despite contributing 110 yards and one touchdown on 11 rushes in a competitive running back rotation last season, including being named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for his debut performance against Army, Holly ultimately redshirted in his initial season with the Tigers.
