The Toronto Blue Jays has agreed a new deal with a high rank slugger.

Former New York Mets power hitter Daniel Vogelbach has reportedly reached an agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays, as stated in a report by Fansided’s Robert Murray. The deal, later confirmed by the New York Post, is a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to the Blue Jays’ Major League camp in Dunedin, Fla.

Vogelbach was among several Mets players who were non-tendered in November, meaning the Mets chose not to offer them a Major League contract for the 2024 season, allowing Vogelbach to explore free agency. At the time, Vogelbach was eligible for arbitration and was expected to receive a contract worth around $2.6 million, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The decision not to tender Vogelbach was made by the Mets’ new management team, headed by president of baseball operations David Stearns.

During his time with the Mets in 2023, Vogelbach played in 104 games, hitting .233 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs. He originally joined the Mets in the middle of the 2022 season after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 2022, Vogelbach batted .255 with six home runs and 25 RBIs in his time with the Mets. Throughout his career, Vogelbach has maintained a batting average of .220 with 80 home runs and 238 RBIs.
