5 Braves Players Likely to Be on the Trade Block Before Opening Day
Spring training is in full swing, and the Atlanta Braves are clearly among baseball’s top teams heading into the 2024 season. With a stacked lineup led by reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. and a pitching staff boasting elite arms and depth, the Braves have one of the most complete rosters in MLB, at least on paper.
Despite their strong roster, there are always opportunities to improve. While the Braves may not be actively looking to make trades before the season starts, they could consider moves to bolster their minor league depth or address specific needs that arise. In such cases, certain players could become expendable.
One such player is Dylan Dodd. He emerged as a potential rotation candidate last spring due to Kyle Wright’s injury issues. Although Dodd struggled in his first MLB stint last year with a 7.60 ERA in 34.1 innings, he showed glimpses of his potential with a diverse pitch mix from the left side. However, Dodd’s future with the Braves is uncertain. While the team values his skill set, they have considerable starting pitching depth ahead of him. With other promising pitchers in the organization, Dodd could be a trade candidate for a team in need of pitching before the 2024 season begins. While the Braves shouldn’t rush into a deal, as last season demonstrated the importance of pitching depth, Dodd could be moved for the right offer.
