“I had moments where I doubted myself,” Young admits. “I wondered if I was good enough to compete at this level. But I never lost my love for the game. That kept me going.”

It was during these challenging times that Young developed a deep appreciation for the opportunities he had been given. “I realized that not everyone gets to play professional baseball,” he says. “I wanted to make the most of it, no matter what challenges came my way.”Young’s perseverance eventually paid off. Through hard work and dedication, he began to improve his game, both offensively and defensively. His breakthrough came in the minor leagues when he was called up to the AAA team and made an immediate impact.

“I finally felt like I belonged,” Young recalls. “All those years of hard work and dedication had paid off. It was a surreal feeling.”

Young’s success in the minor leagues earned him a spot on the Athletics’ roster, where he continued to excel. His defensive skills, combined with his improved batting, made him a valuable asset to the team.

Looking back on his journey, Young is grateful for the struggles he faced. “Those tough times made me appreciate the good times even more,” he says. “They taught me to never give up, no matter how difficult things may seem.”
