A Yankees pitcher has had discussions with the Red Sox regarding a potential contract.

New York Yankees pitcher, Jordan Montgomery, has garnered interest from the team’s biggest rival, the Boston Red Sox. After being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2022, Montgomery excelled with both the Cardinals and the Texas Rangers in 2023, notably helping the Rangers reach the World Series.

Montgomery, now a free agent, has reportedly met with the Red Sox regarding a potential signing. ESPN’s Buster Olney mentioned that Montgomery could be an upgrade for the Red Sox’s 2024 rotation and could be part of their long-term plans, given their payroll flexibility.

While Montgomery has been linked to several teams, the Red Sox appear to be a leading option. A reunion with the Yankees seems unlikely. Despite possibly not securing as large of a contract as he initially hoped for, Montgomery is expected to sign soon. Boston, with a pressing need to enhance its starting rotation, seems like a viable landing spot for Montgomery.
