Adelaide Squad Update: Potential Return of Key Players Ahead of AAMI Community Series Clash Against West Coast
Adelaide’s squad may receive a boost with the potential return of three key players for the upcoming AAMI Community Series clash against West Coast.
Defenders Jordon Butts and Wayne Milera are both contenders to make a comeback from hamstring injuries, while midfielder Jake Soligo could also be back in action as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
Darren Burgess, the High Performance Manager, expressed optimism about the progress of all three players in their rehabilitation, stating that if they successfully complete Wednesday’s training session, they are expected to be available for selection against West Coast.
However, Mark Keane will be sidelined for the game due to being in the AFL’s concussion protocols. He joins Rory Sloane (eye), Nick Murray (knee), and Harry Schoenberg (Achilles) on the injury list.
Regarding Sloane’s progress, although he has resumed on-ground drills with his teammates, he has not yet progressed to contact training following eye surgery last month. Burgess mentioned that Sloane’s return will be guided by specialists, indicating that a clearer timeline for his recovery will emerge in the coming weeks.
As for Murray and Schoenberg, both are progressing well in their rehabilitation from long-term injuries sustained after surgery last year. Burgess added that Keane is presenting well and has commenced running, but he will need to complete the AFL’s concussion protocols before being cleared to return to play.
