Alabama wide receiver made a remark critical of Auburn.

DeVonta Smith, a former wide receiver for the Crimson Tide, recently appeared on Newton’s podcast. Smith, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2020 and is a two-time College Football Playoff National Champion, was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Hailing from Louisiana, he is the most decorated receiver in Alabama football history, holding all-time records for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Smith playfully told Newton on the podcast, “Auburn will never have its time.”

“It’s not going to ever be y’all time,” Smith jokingly said to Newton about Auburn football.

Smith is regarded as one of the top young receivers in the NFL. He joined Alabama’s 2017 signing class and made some of the most memorable plays in school history, including a game-winning, 41-yard touchdown catch on “2nd and 26” in the 2018 CFP National Championship game against Georgia.
