Another setback for injury-plagued Magpie just before the 2024 season begins.
Nathan Kreuger Sent for Scans on Hamstring Injury: Collingwood Assistant Coach Confirms
Nathan Kreuger of Collingwood is undergoing scans for a hamstring injury, as confirmed by Magpies assistant coach Justin Leppitsch.
Kreuger is believed to have sustained the injury during a VFL scratch match against Richmond at Punt Road Oval on Tuesday afternoon.
“Yeah, it appears that way,” Leppitsch stated during an interview with SEN’s Sportsday when asked about Kreuger’s condition. “I received information upon entering the changerooms that he is currently en route for an MRI scan. I’m uncertain about the severity of the injury, but it seems to be the case.”
This adds to Kreuger’s unfortunate streak of injuries at Collingwood. He underwent a right shoulder reconstruction at the beginning of 2023 following issues with his left shoulder during the 2022 campaign.
The 24-year-old, who joined Collingwood from Geelong at the end of 2021, has played just seven games under Craig McRae in the past two years. He spent much of the 2023 season in the VFL, facing competition from Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox in Collingwood’s ruck department.
Collingwood’s senior team is scheduled to face Richmond on Tuesday night, with live coverage available on the SEN App and across the SEN Network.
